The U.S. - Chile Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is a free trade agreement that promotes trade between these countries by providing lower duties on certain goods originating in and traded between the United States and Chile.
The Chilean importer is responsible for claiming preferential treatment for a given shipment at the time the goods are cleared through customs. The responsibility for the validity of the claim lies with the importer.
Certification of the goods’ origin may be produced by the exporter, importer or producer of the goods. If someone other than the producer (such as the exporter) issues the certification, it must be based upon either of the following:
